iHealth awarded 8 iF Design Awards

Paris, France – February 28, 2014 – iHealth, the Silicon Valley worldwide leader in connected health, is awarded 8 iF Design Awards for its new range of connected wireless health devices.

For Uwe Diegel, president of iHealthLabs Europe, the European subsidiary of the group, these awards are the reward of many years of work and research in health. “Design is no longer a secondary option that simply allows products to be beautiful. Design must bring new unexpected features that help patients to better manage their disease. I am particularly proud that our two new glucometers were chosen for iF Awards, because diabetes is one of the diseases that needs a radical change in approach centered around the patient rather than around the disease.”

A different approach to sustainable health

The iHealth products are all managed from a single App called iHealth MyVitals (available in iOS or Android) that allows the user to view all his vital signs on a single screen. This way makes it possible for the patient to see the impact of one pathology on another. Users can easily access previously recorded data, rearrange it by date or time of day and create custom graphs and reports that track changes in their health.

The iHealth products awarded with 2014 iF Awards are the BP7 and BP5 blood pressure monitors, the BG1 and BG5 glucometers, the PO3 pulse oximeter, the new HS4 body scale, the AM3s Activity Tracker and the  iBaby M2 camera. The awards were presented to Uwe DIEGEL, president of iHealthLabs, at a glittering ceremony yesterday night at the BMW World Pavilion in Munich, Germany.

Patients who monitor their vital signs are 50 percent more likely to have their disease under control than those who do not follow them. “Giving people the chance to take responsibility for their health is a major issue. The future of health management starts with the individual. By identifying how daily activities affect vital signs such as blood pressure, diabetes and heart rate, people become more proactive about their own health” says Uwe Diegel.

For 60 years, the iF Design Awards are an internationally recognized award for outstanding achievements in product design. The iF Awards are synonymous with some of the biggest advances in industrial design of the 20th century.
